Top Ten for Fall 2011 Part 5 - Feathers

5.  Finely Feathered

Nothing makes a stronger statement this fall than perhaps the most fragile and dainty of this year's trends - feathers.  Whether used in apparel or accessories, the feather is making a huge impact on this year's fashion scene.

Alexander Mc Queen's fall couture collection was splashed delightfully with feathers throughout. He was but only one of the major designers who chose to showcase feathers in their Fall 2011 Collections, however. Note the inventive use of feathers from the House of Chanel, below.

Feathers were not strictly the domain of the couture collections, however. The RTW runways showcased their share of fine feathers as well.

Carolina Herrera29Jason Wu was among the many established designers to present an array of feathers in his show. Even feather-prints were highly favored as noted in the Carolina Herrera design at left. Feathers have been the inspiration for myriads of designs for the coming season. From apparel to footwear, to handbags, to jewelry, and a variety of other accessories; feathers are no lightweight this fall!

Fortunately for most of us, the feather craze is readily available at just about any price point, making this hot new trend highly accessible to all. To make things even better, feathers work with a variety of looks from Lady Chic to Boho.

Check out some of the retail offerings below to see how you might wish to incorporate the wispy feather into your fall wardrobe.

Badgley Mishka 38
Of course, there's probably no area that has been impacted more by feathers than eveningwear. Bagdley Mishka's gowns were stunning as always, but many had just a little extra this season - in the way of feathers, as seen at left.

Feathers were very prominent in Alexis Mabille's couture collection as well. Even when his gowns did not feature feathers, they were worn by his models as hair accesories - even with his sleekest gowns. Not only are feathers a big hit on the runways, they are becoming more and more available in ready to wear eveningwear available at retail. Take a look at some of the splendid gowns now offered from various sellers.
