Top Ten for Fall 2011 Part 8 - Bold Geometry

8.  Bold Geometry

Perhaps the biggest fashion news for Fall 2001 is the importance of bold geometrics. Color block dresses and sportswear were a part of nearly every designer's fall collection, and the trend appears to be gaining in momentum, as the same can be said for the springs collections that were recently shown in New York.

Some designers mixed colorblocking with other geometric prints as evidenced by the photos below. Much of Georgio Armani's Prive collection included colorblocks of bold geometrics offset by vibrant color. Nearly the entire Chrisitan Dior Couture line-up consisted of bold geometry and pastel colors. His designs were even crowned with geometric headpieces atop the models' heads.

Asymmety and geometric cuts for solid colored pieces are also big news for the coming season. The photos below from Andrew GN and Guy Laroche are two excellent examples.

Fortunately this trend has hit mainstream retail with the same fervor as the designer runways. Geometric cuts and colorblocking can now be found an almost any price-point from high-end to bargain basement. Here are a few of my retail picks.

Big news and big fun!  That's my take on the Bold Geometry that we're seeing this fall.  It's taking shape in many forms from strong, primarily asymmetrical cuts in both apparel and foot wear, to graphic colorblocking, to splashy geometric prints reminiscent of the 1960's.  Regardless of which look is your favorite - or if you love them all, and just can't decide - a little geometry added to the mix this fall equals high voltage fashion.  It's the kind of math that you're going to love!
